Doris Jean (Mrs. Charles) Jansen, 88, of State Center, Iowa passed away early Thursday morning, August 22, 2013 at Villa Del Sol Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday August 26, 2013, at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Rick Dagit Officiating. She will be laid to rest in the St. Josephs Cemetery at State Center. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday August 25, 2013 with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil service. Born Doris Jean Snyders on August 27th, 1924, in Batchtown, IL, she was the only child born to Herman and Irma (Wallendorf) Snyders. She attended school through 9th grade in Illinois and moved with her family to State Center. She graduated from the State Center High School in 1942 and later attended Business College. On September 2nd, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles Jansen in State Center. They made State Center their home all of their married lives where she was a farmwife and worked in the office of Fisher Controls in Marshalltown and Nash-Finch. The most important jobs she had were wife, mother and grandma who loved and treasured her family. Mrs. Jansen was a faithful member of St. Josephs Parish, the Altar and Rosary Society, ACCW and the American Legion Auxiliary. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 66 years, Chuck, her son Larry (Echo) Jansen of Grinnell, her daughter LeAnne (Mike) Pfantz of Omaha, NE, three grandchildren and their families: Justin Jansen, Brad (Jaine) Pfantz and Tanya (Casey) Waite , Great- grandchildren : Allie, Carter, Olivia, and Charlie Pfantz and Hudson and Connor Waite, and many friends.
