Doris Fay (McKibben) Milligan, passed away on October 8, 2014, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, with her loving family by her side. Services for Doris will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with Chaplain Angela Doty officiating. A public visitation for the family to greet friends from 1:00 2:00 prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be given to the family for designation at a later time. Doris Fay McKibben was born on November 12, 1921, in rural Albion. She was the daughter of Joseph N. and Mabel (Price) McKibben. She attended elementary school in Albion and graduated from Green Mountain High School in May of 1935. Doris attended Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown. Following college she went to work as a secretary for Central Christian Church and then worked for Glick Supply Company. On November 22, 1956, Doris married Vernon L. Milligan at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Together they owned and operated the Orpheum Coffee Shop and Bennys Harmony Caf. Even after they sold the caf, Doris stayed on for several years at Bennys. In addition, she worked at Fore Quarters restaurant as well. And then Doris worked for over 20 years at Stones Restaurant. Vern and Doris made their home in Marshalltown and lived in the same house for over 60 years. Doris and Vern moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in 2009. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years. In her free time, Doris enjoyed, sewing, crocheting, reading, gardening, and spending time with her familyespecially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are Doris children: Jane (Alan) Borton, Sue (Jeff) Clapsaddle, Cindy (Jeff) Mann, Tim (Dawn) Milligan; grandchildren: Tristan (Staci) Switzer, Tyson (Becky) Switzer, Joe Clapsaddle, Jim Clapsaddle, Brittene, Danelle and Jamie West. Great-grandchildren: Chloe, Addi, and Trista Swtizer, and George Clapsaddle. In death, Doris has rejoined her beloved husband of 53 years, Vernon; her parents; and two sisters.
