Doris Virginia (Kiehn) Rank of Marshalltown, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Villa Del Sol Nursing Home surrounded by her family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Doris and her family.Doris Virginia Kiehn was born in Marshalltown on July 29, 1922 to Otto and Clara (Wilhelmi) Kiehn. She was educated in the Marshalltown schools, graduating with the class of 1940; Doris then attended Telegraphy School graduating in 1942. Doris married Norman R Rank on December 25, 1945 at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. She and Norman had lived in Washington, D.C. from 1945 to 1946, Delmar, California from 1946 to 1951 and had lived in Marshalltown the rest of her life. When in Washington she had worked at Washington Loan and Trust, and after they returned to Marshalltown she had worked at Dottie Dunn Hat Shoppe, Security Bank, and went to work for her husbands tax business from 1976 to 2003. Doris had been a member of the Marshalltown OES, Madon Shrine # 38, The White Shrine of Jerusalem (WJS) and had served as Past Worthy High Priestess. She loved her family and had a passion for helping her grandchildren; she enjoyed ceramics and loved to cook.Doris is survived by her husband of 65 years Norman, her daughter Claudia (Jerry) Flathers of Marshalltown and her grandchildren; Kelcy (Tom) Gabriel of Marshalltown and Kyle Flathers of Marshalltown.Doris was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Clara Kiehn.
