Doris (Mrs. Chet) Stubbs, 89, of rural Marshalltown, died Tuesday, June 22nd, at the Grandview Heights while in their care, her loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 25th, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Doris and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on February 15th, 1921, at home near Dillon, Marshall County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Walter and Ila (Goodman) Wolken. She received her education in the area of her birth and graduated from the Ferguson Consolidated High Schools Class of 1939. On December 30th, 1939, she was united in marriage to Chet Stubbs in Lancaster, MO. Mrs. Stubbs was employed over 30 years at Fantles in Marshalltown, earning the name Mrs. Fantles for her energetic help to the customers and was always a friendly face that loved people. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family, playing bridge and taking care of her home, traveling to Texas in the winter and Branson, going to Bluegrass festivals and listening to Chet sing. She was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 70 years, Chet, her three children: Karen Dougherty of Marshalltown, Lana (Bill) Wilson of Marshalltown and Dan Stubbs (Shari Upah) of Marshalltown, her grandchildren: Karla (Keith) Frink, Greg (Sally) Dougherty, Todd (Angie) Wilson, Julie Wilson, Mark Wilson, Tim Stubbs and Chad Stubbs, her great-grandchildren: Jaden Frink, Reagan and Will Wilson, Chloe and Taylor Dougherty, her sister Ruth (Claire) Goshon of Marshalltown as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In death, she rejoined her parents, her granddaughters Angie (December 19th, 1995), Kristin (August 18th, 1972), great-grandson Michael (December 19th, 1995), son-in-law Bill Dougherty, and siblings Raymond (Henrietta) Wolken, Helen (Ray) Roggenbuck and Harland (Peggy) `Wolken.
