Doris L. Svendsen

Doris Svendsen, 80, of Marshalltown, died early Friday morning, January 28, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center while in their care since April of 2008.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, at the Mitchell Family Funeral home with her nephew, Randy Svendsen officiating. Born Doris Svendsen on June 23,1930, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Rose (Ingledue) Svendsen. She graduated from the Green Mountain High Schools Class of 1948 and later attended the Central Iowa Business College.Ms. Svendsen was employed at the DHS in Marshalltown for over 40 years and was a member of her sorority, the Venture Club and the Soroptimist Club. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Helen (Clyde) Knoll of Marshalltown, Dick (Joan) Svendsen of Conrad and Jim (Shirley) Svendsen of rural Marshalltown; nieces and nephews- Pam Hoffman, Cindy Vaughn, Mike Knoll, Doug Svendsen, Kristi Farrington, Randy Svendsen, Debra Benoit and Steve Svendsen as well as many great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-grandnephew. In death, Doris rejoined her parents and one niece, Lori Knoll.
