Doris Mae Terrell, 100, of State Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and devotion to her family.

Born on March 12, 1926, on the family farm near State Center, Doris was the daughter of Clarence and Louise (Ritterodt) Schaper. She graduated from State Center High School and continued her education at Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown.

Doris married her high school sweetheart, David Terrell, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center. Together they built a life centered on family and farming, and the farm near State Center was always home. David preceded her in death on February 16, 1975. Doris was employed at Marshall Print and later at the State Center Manor, as well as being a devoted farm-wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.

Doris found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved golfing and was a former member of the Lincoln Valley Golf Association. She enjoyed spending winters in Tucson, Arizona, creating lasting friendships and memories. She was an enthusiastic card player, especially enjoying games of 500 and Bunko. Doris also took great pride in her gardening, canning, cooking and was well known among family and friends for making what many considered the best pickles ever.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted, active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center.

Doris is lovingly remembered by her children, Randy (Kristina) Terrell of State Center, Linda (Tom) Henline of Norwalk, and Ricky Terrell of State Center; her grandchildren, David Henline, Ethan (Nicole) Terrell, and Jason (Jordan) Terrell; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Rowyn, Emilia, Lillian, and Colton.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Terrell; her parents, Clarence and Louise Schaper; son Ronnie; her brother, Donald Schaper; and her sister-in-law, Myrna Schaper.
