Dorotha Cordt, 87, of Marshalltown passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Grandview Heights with her husband Jim and son Joe by her side.Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. For condolences or questions please visit; www.mitchellfh.com . Ph: 641-844-1234.Born Dorotha Lee Iverson on January 1, 1925, in Longmont, Colorado, she was the daughter of Sam and Onnie (Medhus) Iverson. She attended school in LeGrand and graduated from the Dunbar High School in 1942. She later attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On June 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Rolland Jim Cordt at her family home near Dunbar. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was employed at Younkers prior to the arrival of her children. Dorotha enjoyed sports of all kinds, her cactus gardens, day lilies and roses, all of which were beautiful and she was a great cook. Mrs. Cordt was proud of her Norwegian heritage and reflected that in making foods from Norway.Left to cherish her memory are Jim, her loving husband of 63 years, her children: Joe (the late Joan) Cordt of Marshalltown, Craig (Gretchen) Cordt of Davenport and Kristy (Gary) Beckler of Grant, NE;her grandchildren: Kelley (Steven) Klosterman of Marshalltown, Anne (Derick) Thurston of Davenport, Elizabeth Cordt of Iowa City and Sally Cordt of Davenport; step-grandaughter, Cori (Christopher) Williams of Ogallala, NE;great-granddaughter, Alice Thurston of Davenport; step-great-grandson, Brandon Williams and step-great-granddaughter, Maya Williams, both of Ogallala, NE; her brother, Stanley Iverson of Conrad and sister-in-law, Janice Thorn as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In death, Dorotha rejoined her parents, sister Clarice (Charlie) Lee, daughter-in-law Joan Cordt and sister-in-law Barb Iverson.
