The kind, generous and fun-loving spirit of Dorothy Dottie Danner, age 82, of Marshalltown, left this earthly life with family at her side and in the comfort of her own home on Saturday, September 23rd. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gregg Davison officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Born Dorothy Ann Pounds on December 4th, 1934, in Chicago, IL. she was the daughter of Robert and Susie (Uraski) Pounds. She attended and graduated from school in Chicago. On September 29th, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Jack Danner in Wichita Falls, TX. They made Marshalltown their home all of their married lives where she was active in the family business, Danner Fire Extinguisher. In 1957, she began working at Lennox and was in charge of hiring numerous staff for them while working in the resource department. No person or animal ever went hungry or needed a thing when Dottie was around. Her generous and giving spirit made this world a better place. She was a cheerful giver to many, many charities, especially St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Everyone who knew her also knows her love of shopping, and with her passing the stock of QVC just went down! She was her daughter Berts Friday night date for years going to the casino for penny slots. Surviving are her daughters: Sue Barten of Conrad and Roberta Bert (Tony) Brink of Haverhill, grandchildren: Cassie (Mike) Wendt of Burlington and their children- Carmen and Jackson; Jessica (Bryan) Fors of Marshalltown and their children Hunter and Lily; Myles Brink of Albuquerque, NM; Molly Barten of Ankeny, her niece Linda Mooney of California along with daughters Jackie and Jessie and her former daughter-in-law, Julie Worden (Stalzer), as well as her fur-baby she rescued a year and a half ago- Katie. In death, Dottie rejoined her beloved Jackie who passed away on July 13th, 1998, her son John who died April 4th, 2006, her parents, her grandson Leo Barten who passed on Nov. 5th, 2009, and her brother, Bobby Pounds.
