Dorothy Clark, 95, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Graveside services for Dorothy will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dorothy Eleanor Hale was born on February 17, 1928 in Houston, Missouri. She was the daughter of Dillard and Beulah (Bridges) Hale. She moved to Marshalltown when she was 3 years old. On May 18, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Carroll C. Clark in Marshalltown. Dorothy had been a department manager with Montgomery Wards for seventeen years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was the longest serving member of the church. She was also a charter member of the Central Iowa Doll Club and a member of the Iowa China Porcelain Doll Painters. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, hand painted china, painting, making porcelain dolls, giving programs with her dolls and china paintings, and previously been a Sunday School teacher, youth leader and was on numerous church boards, such as Christian Education, Deaconess, Mission Board and the AB Women’s Missions.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Linda (Philip) Hamm of West Des Moines and Charles Clark of Nebraska. Grandchildren: Heather (David) Reeves, Matt (Julie) Hamm, Bill Hamm, John Clark, Jamy (Lauren) Clark, Jesse (Jenni) Clark, Joe (Amber) Clark and Carrie Clark. Great grandchildren: Emily and Robert Reeves; Bailey Watters, Jacob and Lucus Hamm; Elijah, Elizabeth, Linden, Louden, Rocky, Max, Maggie and Penelope Clark.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; parents: Dillard and Beulah; brothers: Dillard Hale and Dale Hale; twin sister: Doris Hale; half-brother: John Coldren III, step father: John Coldren II, step sister: Edith Pagel; granddaughter: Joy Ann Clark; great granddaughter: Isabel Clark and son-in-law: Robert Schachtlie.
