Dorothy Marion Cripps (92), of Mason City (formerly of Marshalltown), Iowa, passed away on November 24th, 2015, under the care of Hospice of North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 1st, 2015, at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, at 1:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. A private family internment will take place at a later date. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dorothy and her family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Dorothy Kallem was born on November 1st, 1923, to Edward and Louise (Hanson) Kallem, in Larsian, Montana. She attended school in Iowa, graduating from the Eagle Grove community school. On April 10th, 1948, Wallace Wally Cripps and Dorothy Marion Kallem were united in marriage, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Together the family made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa, to raise their children. She was an employee of the Marshalltown Hospital. She retired from Marshalltown Manufacturing following many years of service. In 2000, after 52 years of marriage, Wally passed away. Dorothy was a member of the Elim Lutheran Church. She loved spending time in the garden with her flowers, preparing meals for her family and volunteering at the Elim Lutheran Church Clothes Closet. Left to cherish her memory is her sister; Jean Lee of Bellevue, Nebraska, daughters; Jan (Howard) Summers of Kellogg, Iowa, Carol (John) Hughes of Mason City, Iowa, grandchildren; Michael Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa, Angela Hughes of Johnston, Iowa, Scott (Katrina) Bailey of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, step-grandchildren; Michael (Cristi) Hughes of Milton, Florida, Kimberly Hughes of Des Moines, Iowa, great-grandchildren; Jaxon, Eden, Ashton Bailey and Madison Long of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, Katrice Bailey of Marshalltown, Iowa, Wesley Hughes of Ft. Hood, Texas, and Alexis Hughes of Milton, Florida, great great-grandchildren; Hayliee and Bennett Versteegh. In death, Dorothy rejoins her parents; Edward and Louise Kallem, husband; Wallace Wally Cripps, 10 brothers and sisters.
