Dorothy Edler, 89, of rural Zearing, Iowa, passed away at home on Monday, April 6, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, West Marshall Chapel in State Center, Iowa. Dorothy Marie Noble was born on May 29, 1925, in Rome, Indiana. Dorothy moved to Clemons as a young girl and was raised by Dr. E. H. and Christine Noble. She attended school in Clemons, graduating with the class of 1943. On August 17, 1946 Dorothy was united in marriage to Arlind William Edler in Boulder, Colorado. They returned to Iowa to farm. Dorothy worked at Donnelly Marketing until her retirement. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, cryptograms, computer games, playing cards, watching sports and volunteer work. She loved to email her friends and family with jokes, updates and stories. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her church family and her many friends. Left to cherish Dorothys memory are her children Cheryl Groetzinger of Aurora, Colorado; Janice (David) Faria of Castle Rock, Colorado; Barbara (Kenny) Smith of Aurora, Colorado; and William Bill (Karen) Edler of rural Zearing, Iowa, grandchildren Jami Robbins, Steven and Jeff Faria, and Jessica Smith and great-grandchildren Alexis and Aliya Robbins and Gaige and Talon Faria. In death, Dorothy rejoins her husband, Arlind; parents Dr. E. H. and Christine Noble, son-in law James Groetzinger; brothers Russell Noble, Howard Noble, Sherb Noble, Carl Siefert; and sister, Neva Richmond.
