Dorothy Mae (Wolgamott) Erwin, 86, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday morning, March 5, 2013, at the Villa del Sol. Her death came peacefully, while under the loving care of the Villa del Sol and Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Marv Siems and Terry Collins officiating. There will be no visitation on Thursday. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dorothy and her family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Dorothy was born on June 28, 1926 in Oshkosh, Nebraska, to Guy and Estelle Wolgamott. She graduated in 1943, from the Laurel High School, and married her soul mate, Clair Erwin on December 31, 1944. They celebrated their 68th anniversary this past December. Dorothy was a partner with Clair, managing the farm in Laurel until 1987, when they retired and moved to Marshalltown. She was a longtime member of the Laurel United Methodist Church and the Laurel American Legion Auxiliary Harold McBroom Unit #635. Surviving are her husband, Clair, and their three children: Shirley Yeries of Oxford, Iowa; Joan Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Jim Erwin of Marshalltown. Dorothy and Clair were also blessed with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
