Dorothy Farr

Dorothy Ann Farr, 82, of Marshalltown, passed away May 20, 2010, at the State Center, Iowa, nursing home.Cremation rites have been accorded and her remains are interred next to her husband Dale in Riverside Cemetery. Phone 641-844-1234Dorothy was born July 25, 1927 in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. Her parents Victor and Emma Tupy preceded her in death. Dorothy married Dale E. Farr on September 24, 1946, in Phoenix City, Al. Dale preceded her in death on November 23, 1997, at age of 70.Dorothy spent most of her life in Marshalltown, Iowa. In her younger years she worked in her fathers restaurant here in Marshalltown as a waitress and later on worked a number of years at the Fisher Company and the Hy Vee store. Dorothy spent her later years as a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and thrived on making her home a place of comfort. She was a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church.She often commented to friends humorously as to how ironic it was that she and her husband Dale have the same first names as her brother and sister-in-law Dale and Dorothy (Tupy).She has one daughter, Paula Farr, currently living in Denver CO, and three great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. Her closest living relatives are her brother and sister in-law Jack and Hoke Farr who reside in Marshalltown.She is survived by her brother Dale F. Tupy and sister-in-law Dorothy S. (Schwartz) Tupy of Wooster, Ohio, and her sister Norma Fairbanks of Camanche, Iowa. We wish to convey a special Thank You to the staff at the State Center Nursing Home and Chrissy and Judy of Hospice for the special and compassionate care they gave Dorothy in her final days. We cannot of course forget to recognize Kathy Wisecarver who befriended Dottie and afforded her a special companionship in her final days.
