Dorothy Huge, 86, of Marshalltown, died Monday, February 11th, at the Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, Illinois. Her death came peacefully with her family at her side. Memorial services celebrating Dorothys life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16th, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Batcheler officiating. Immediately following will be a time of fellowship and refreshments in the lower level of the church. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call for visitation from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown Cancer Support Group. Born Dorothy Hall on September 15th, 1921, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the only child born to Harry Hugo and Mary Adelaide Hall. On December 6th, 1947, she was united in marriage to Emmett Huge. They lived in the St. Louis County area until 1973 when they relocated to Marshalltown. Dorothy recently became a resident of Alden Courts in Aurora, IL. Dorothy was a homemaker who devoted her life to her parents, husband and children. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lioness, Tri-T and the Marshalltown Cancer Support Group. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda (Gary) Layman of Aurora, IL., Ken (Linda) Huge of Lansing, MI., two grandchildren: Kristen (Nathan) Jackson of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Laura Huge of Grand Ledge, Michigan, great-grandchildren Jaylon and Jayden McAllister of Grand Ledge and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her beloved Emmett who died on February 22, 2002 and her parents.
