Dorothy Jean Miller, 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at home while under the loving care of her family and Iowa River Hospice.Per Dorothys request there will be no public services. Phone 641-844-1234.Dorothy Jean Hauser was born on November 3, 1920 she was the daughter of Ross George and Josephine Jose (Rowen) Hauser. She was raised and educated in the Union, Iowa area, graduating with the Union High School class of 1938. Dorothy was united in marriage to Arlyn Eugene (Irish) Miller on July 30, 1942 on Lancaster, Missouri where they eloped. She had worked as a postal clerk for her father who was the Postmaster of the Union, Iowa Post Office; she had worked there until retiring after 24 years of service. Dorothy was a member of The Union Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and golfing and square dancing with Irish, but most of all she always enjoyed her family.Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Denise (Duane) Underhill of Marshalltown, Iowa, one grandson; Justin Murdock of Des Moines, two step-granddaughters: Julie Underhill and Jennifer (Zach) Lawler both of Marshalltown, one step grandson: Dewey (Gretchen) Underhill of Olathe Kansas and her bedside pal; Mani Ki, her dog, one sister; Doris Hammer of Sebring, Florida and many nieces and nephews.Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Irish, her parents ;Ross and Jose, her brother ;Robert Hauser, a brother -in-law ; Asa(Bo) Hammer, two sisters-in-law Gen Morris and Rena Elery and two brothers-in-law; Earl Miller and Carl Miller and a step-great-grandaughter; Kelsey Stanton.We would like to thank all of Dorothys wonderful friends and family that kept in touch with her through the years, Iowa River Hospice who has become family and Mike Kirk and the Mitchell Family Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion they have shown through this hard time, WE LOVE YOU ALL!
