Dorothy Porter, 83, of Marshalltown, made her way out of this life and joined her husband in Heaven on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First Friends Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will start one hour prior starting at  9:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dorothy Jane May was born on January 24, 1935 in Eldora to George and Leona May. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1954. On September 28, 1956, Dorothy was united in marriage to Edgar Porter in Eldora. Dorothy spent her life dedicating her time to her children, Diana, Kathy, and Dennis. After they were grown, she served proudly as grandma to their children. Dorothy was a faithful member of First Friends Church and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed going to Culvers to eat cheeseburgers. She had a love for her family, especially her grandson in law Greg, whom she claimed was her favorite. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kathy Robinson of Marshalltown and grandchildren Brandon Raske, Shannon (Greg) Lacey, Angie Robinson, Todd Robinson, Carrie Kroeger and Courtney Porter as well as several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Edgar and children Diana Raske and Dennis Porter. Also preceding her in death are siblings, Dean May, Dale May, Bonnie May, Lois Westerhausen, Bobby May, and Donald May, and her cats, Pepper and three legged Fred.
