Dorothy (Johnsen) Potter, 54, of Marshalltown passed away, Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. To honor her and her family’s wishes, cremation rites have been given and a Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Dorothy Louise was born on December 19, 1967 in Joliet, Illinois the daughter of Merle and Letha (Adams) Robinson. She graduated from the Reed Custer High School in Braidwood, IL. She moved to Marshalltown where she was a dietary aide for the Marshalltown Public Schools. On July 17, 2021 she was united in marriage to Scott R. Potter in Ames. When not at work, Dorothy enjoyed her children and grandchildren, traveling with Scott and her birds. She was always helping others, volunteering as a law enforcement officer with the Marshalltown Police Department, as a caregiver for the Iowa River Hospice and at the concession stand for the Marshalltown Football League. She was also a member of the Marshall County Community Emergency Response Team. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband, Scott; her children: Amber (Kenny) Paoni, Keith (Monica) Johnsen, Curt (Liz) Johnsen and David Burns; her step children: Keegan, Karlie and Carson Potter and her five grandchildren: Parker, Jadelyn, Titus, Cassius Johnsen and Zayden Potter. In eternal life, Dorothy is reunited with her parents, her step father, Robert Glaab and a granddaughter, Ariana Long.
