Dorothy Mae Rider, 89, of Marshalltown passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Pat Jordan. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the LaMoille Congregational Church in LaMoille, Iowa. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dorothy Wickersham was born on May 10, 1925. She was the daughter of Emmett C and Mabel Jentzen Wickersham. Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Earl Rider on October 27, 1946 in Marshalltown. Dorothy was a homemaker on the Century Farm with Robert until his passing on July 1, 1978. Dorothy was a member of the LaMoille Congregational Church, Starry Grove Club, LaMoille Womens Fellowship, LaMoille Federated Womens Club and Central Iowa Squares. She was a Tri-Chem Representative and an election official for many years. Dorothy was a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and had perfect attendance since 1992 and was named Kiwanian of the Year numerous times. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and fishing trips to northern Minnesota and Canada and loved her two cats; Savannah and Henry. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia Jordan of Marshalltown, Robert (Connie) Rider of Urbandale, Ronald (Jane) Rider of Clive, and Nancy Rhoades of Des Moines. Grandchildren: Tracy (Chad) Dielman, Robin (Kevin) Angstman, Terry Jordan, Chris Randolph, Jennifer Sellers, Katie (Justin) Scholl, Ben (Kelly) Rider, Michelle (Craig) Moore, Dennis (Carie) Albers and Tim (Emily) Rhoades. Great grandchildren: Spencer, Chloe, Henry, Lance, Parker, Morgan, Daniel, Brittney, Samantha, Jesse, Nathan, Lucas, Emersen and Clara. She is also survived by her sister Joan (Ed) Boston of Salida, Colorado and sister-in-law, Doris Knowles of Rogers, Arkansas. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandson Michael.
