Dorothy Marie Zeisneiss, 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Dorothy Allen was born on October 8, 1930 at a farm south of Conrad to Walter Floyd and Martha Emily Stuckmeyer Allen. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1948 and went on to attended business courses at Marshalltown Community College. On August 31, 1952; Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl Fredrick Zeisneiss in Conrad. Dorothys first job was as a switchboard operator. She also had worked as a professional retouching negatives, a former owner of a Karmelkorn and a farm wife. Dorothy was very active in giving back to people; she was very active in the Smile Train which helps children in need to get surgery for cleft palates, she would buy chickens to send them to Africa for people in need and was a sponsor for the Christian Childrens Fund. Dorothy enjoyed painting whether it was charcoal or acrylic, she was a wonderful cook and was a child of the 1930s. Dorothy also helped pay to have all five of her grandchildren get to college. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Janet (Bob) Halverson of Marshalltown, Jacqueline Bryant of Marshalltown and James Zeisneiss of Jefferson City, Missouri. Grandchildren: Ben Jones, Caitlin Jones, Jacob Jones, Matthew Bryant and Lee Bryant. Sister in law: Ellen Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Carl, parents, sister Julia Vernon and brothers Roy and Dale Allen. Funeral: Wednesday November 27, 2013, 10:00
