After a courageous 3 year battle with cancer, Doug Johnson, 65, of Ramsey, Minnesota passed away Monday, November 27, at the home of his brother Steve, surrounded by family and under the care of Heartland Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3 at the funeral home. Intermittent will be in the Marietta Cemetery. Douglas Craig Johnson was born on April 10, 1952 at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital, Marshalltown, Iowa, to Charles and Jean Olson Johnson. Doug attended school at State Center and graduated from West Marshall High School with the Class of 1970. On September 4, 1970 Doug was united in marriage to Donna Mae Ryan at the United Methodist Church at Rhodes, Iowa. Doug worked for several contractors in and around the Marshalltown area until he started his own construction company in the mid 1970's. In 1984 he moved his family to Ramsey, Minnesota, where he continued his home building business. Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football and NASCAR but his most favorite time was spent with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Jean Johnson of LaMoille, Iowa; his children, Scott Johnson of East Bethel, MN, Jason Johnson of Blaine, MN, Troy Johnson of Ham Lake, MN, Emily Johnson (Mike Grott) of Andover, MN, 3 grandchildren, Jordon, Piper and Parker; his siblings, Steve (Mariann) Johnson of Ramsey, MN, Mary (Charles) Gifford of Crystal, MN, and Roger Johnson of St. Anthony, IA, and many nieces and nephews. In death Doug rejoins his father, Charles Johnson (July 2017) and his brother, Todd.
