Douglas Bloom

Douglas Howe Bloom, 58, passed away on July 1, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is handling local arrangements for Doug and his family. 641-844-1234 Doug was born on November 1, 1955 to Earl Howe and Wilma Ruth (Thompson) Bloom in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from Ottumwa, Iowa in 1974. Doug attended college at DuPage College in Wheaton, Illinois. While in college Doug backpacked in the Smokey and Rocky Mountains. In 1977, he joined the US Navy and served on the US John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier in the Mediterranean and in Italy. Doug enjoyed listening to music, Native American history and Native American art. He was an avid reader. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don E. Bloom and uncle Robert T. Thompson. He is survived by his sister Donna Cousparis of Muskogee; niece Andrea Cousparis of Muskogee; nephews Michael Cousparis, Christopher Bloom and Jeremy Bloom all of Chicago, IL; cousins Kenneth Thompson, Bonnie Larson, Bryan Thompson and Gary Thompson.
