Douglas Herr

Douglas A. Herr, 68, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Private interment rites will be held at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. Douglas was born on November 7, 1943 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa and attended the Fort Dodge schools. He honorably served our country from 1965-1967 in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany. Doug worked at Iowa Beef, Ft. Dodge Labs and Hormel and most recently was owner of Sudden Service restaurant from 1985-2009. Doug is survived by his former wife, Karen Herr; children Julie (Eric) Porter and their two sons of Farmington, MN, Terry (Teresa) Herr and their two sons of Elkorn, Nebraska, his brother Donald (Sue) Herr of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Ed Hoerr; his mother and step-father, Eva (Bittner) and Mel Benson. Memorials may be directed to the family.
