Douglas Norman Schilling, 60, longtime resident of State Center, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown surrounded by his family. At this time cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. Memorials in Doug’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation. Born March 15, 1961 in Ottumwa, IA, he was the son of Ralph and Joanna (Marron) Schilling. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in the class of 1979, he went on to attend AIB with a degree in computer sciences. Douglas honorably served his country in the United States Navy for seven years. He worked for several accounting firms in computer sales and most recently worked as a baker at Panera Breads. In his free time, Doug very much enjoyed his time baking, playing darts, getting together with friends, working on various woodworking projects and spending the winters in Texas. Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Ralph Schilling; his sisters, Ann (Craig) Wallace and Marty (David) Dolde and his long-time friend, Ron Henze. In death, he is reunited with his mother, Joanna.
