Dr. Joseph H Hineman

Celebration of Dr. Joseph Homer Hineman will be held at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, 1209 Iowa Avenue West, Marshalltown, Iowa, on Sunday, January 14th, at 2:00 p.m. Memorials honoring his memory may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Program or Iowa State Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department.          Joe was born on March 9, 1923 on his parent’s farm in Van Cleve, Iowa. He grew up on the farms of his parents in the Van Cleve and Haverhill area.          Joe was a WWII Veteran. He had a BS from Iowa State University, MA from University of Missouri, MA from University of Northern Colorado, and Ph.D. from University of Utah.          He was a Psychologist for the VA in Des Moines, Iowa Soldiers Home, Knoxville VA, and did private practice in Marshalltown.          After retiring at age 82 Joe volunteered at the Des Moines county jail providing group Anger Management to inmates. Later he volunteered in the hospice unit at the VA hospital in Tucson, AZ.          Joe lives on in his three daughters, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two brothers, nieces, nephews, friends, and others whose lives he touched.
