Duane J. Peterson

Duane Peterson, age 68 of Conrad, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at his home.

Duane Joseph Peterson was born on December 29, 1956 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Louis and Carolyn (Alvano) Peterson. He attended West High School in Sioux City.

Duane met his friend, Dave Stone, which opened his opportunity to begin working at Stone Sanitation. Duane had a strong work ethic; as you would see through his business, Peterson Paint and Body in Conrad that he owned for 30+ years.

Duane had a passion for going fast, whether it was Harleys or race cars. He raced for many years, and his son, Travis followed his passion. In recent years, Duane quit racing but kept the spark alive by watching Travis compete.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Carolyn; and his brother, Robert Peterson. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Travis (Rykki) Peterson of Gladbrook; his daughters, Traci Roche of Marshalltown and Tiffinee Stone of Sioux City; and grandchildren, Genevieve Bryant, Nathaneal Ramos, Tera Ramos, Brandon Roche, and Kaleb Stone.

Per Duane and his family’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place. A celebration of Duane’s life will be held at later date, tentatively in the spring of 2026. Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
