Duane Ellsworth Witt

Duane E. Witt, 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the afternoon of, Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, with his loving family by his side. Funeral services for Duane will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Jerry Newswander officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Duane will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens following services. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Duane and his family. Duane E. Witt was born on March 22, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Walter H. and Iva (May) Witt. He was raised and educated in the Gladbrook School District graduating from Gladbrook High School. Following high school, Duane spent two years in the United States Army, where he honorably served his Country. On September 14th, 1957, Duane was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen Maire Lounsberry in Marshalltown, Iowa, at the Bethany United Methodist Church. From this union three children were born: Terry, Mike, and Kim. Duane was a hardworking man, dedicating most of his working career with Yellow Freight as a Semi-Driver. After he retired from there, he and Karen enjoyed many years going south to Arizona during the winter months. Duane also enjoyed flying his airplane and spending time with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Karen Witt; children: Terry D. Witt, Mike W. (Judy) Witt, and Kim (John) Daniels; grandchildren: Walter, Peter, JT, Jennifer, Jessica, Emily, Sam and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Asiana, Dayton, Dominic, Vinnie, Mariah, Isabell, Jasmine, and Henry; siblings: Larry Witt, Pat Beddow, and Dallas Witt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Iva Witt, and one brother: Keith Witt (Jr.)
