In Loving Memory of Dwayne Gilbert Swenson

Dwayne Gilbert Swenson, born August 9, 1959, in Orlando, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Dwayne spent much of his life in Iowa and California, building a life filled with varied experiences, friendships, and interests that reflected his unique personality. He served six years in the United States Army, dedicating a portion of his life to serving his country. He later built a career in the casino industry as a pit boss, where his outgoing nature and ability to connect with people were well suited to the work and his success.

Dwayne was a man with a quick wit, a spirited personality, and he brought his own special energy to the people and places around him. He was an avid golfer and loved nothing more than a sunny afternoon on the golf course. He also loved to read, listen to music and found pleasure in the quiet moments in his little cabin near the lake in Iowa.

For the last ten years of his life, Dwayne had a devoted companion in his beautiful cat, Bill. Their bond was a special part of his everyday life, and Bill brought him companionship, comfort, and love through the years.

Dwayne is survived by his loving daughter, Mandy Swenson, his kind son, Mitchell Swenson, his sweet grandchildren, Taevin and Willow Mae, his devoted sister, Darlyne and her wife, Candi and step-brothers Drew and Duff Coleman. He is preceded in death by his parents Donald E. and Shirley Swenson, his brother, Donald A. Swenson, and his step-brother, David Coleman.

Though Dwayne’s life has unexpectedly come to an end, his story lives on in the memories he leaves behind—in the laughter he inspired, the stories that will continue to be told, and the beautiful moments that those who loved him will carry in their hearts.
