Earl Ferriss, 80, of Quarry, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will no formal funeral services. Earl Franklin Ferriss was born in rural Tama on November 22, 1928. He was the son of Warren and Ruth (Spinler) Ferriss. Earl graduated from Tama High School in 1946. On September 1, 1962, Earl married Colleen Johnny Beeson in New Sharon, Iowa. The couple lived in Quarry for their entire marriage. Earl worked at Fisher Controls for a few years and then worked at Marshalltown Trowel for 33 years. He was a past member of UAW, Sheriffs Reserve, and was a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed woodworking, telling stories, playing with toys, and enjoyed his grandchildren. Left to miss Earl as his wife of over 47 years,Colleen, of Quarry; his 3 children, Claude Butch Mull and his wife, Marcia, of Quarry, Tom Mull and his wife, Sue, of Marshalltown, and Kandy Fisher and her husband, Mike, of Marshalltown; his grandchildren, Ralea(Todd) Rainey, Hope(Rex) Tomkins, Tommy(Lisa) Mull, Cole Fuller, Blaine Fuller, and Allison Fisher; his 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way; his sister Marlene Dolezal; his brother Leon Ferriss; his sister-in-law Ruth Ferriss; and several nieces and nephews. In death, Earl has rejoined his parents; his sisters, Esther McCrery, LaRue Wolfe, and Irene Vavra; and his brothers, Raleigh Ferriss, Warren Ferriss, and Dale Ferriss.
