Earnest Skillet Cavin, 63, of the Iowa Veterans Home passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 while under their care.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Phone 641-844-1234.Earnest Leroy Cavin was born on November 4, 1949 in Ottumwa, Iowa; he was the son of Roy and Marjorie (Glandon) Cavin. Skillet attended school on the area of his birth and served his country honorably in the United States Army from January 1977 thru May 1978. He had lived in Branson, Missouri until his move to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Skillet had been in the restaurant business most of his working career.Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Donna (Larry) Wilson of Batavia, Iowa, Lucinda (John) Glese of Eldon, Iowa, Sandra Burtlow of Golden Valley, Arizona, Eva (John) Robertson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Mark Cavin, Fred Cavin and Karen (Rick )Dudley all of Ottumwa, Iowa.Skillet was preceded in death by his parent and grandparents.
