Born September 10, 1931 in Whitten, Iowa, Edith was the daughter of Horace and Bertha (Mitchell) Sisson. She was united in marriage to Melvin “Mel” Perry and the couple made their home in Marshall County, eventually settling down in Le Grand. In addition to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, Edith worked several jobs outside of the home, including Beenie’s grocery store, the post office in Le Grand, Meekers Laundry and waitressing at Tallcorn. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers, going to listen to The Western Tones, playing cards and Cribbage and wintering in Mission, Texas. Edith loved her dogs and more than anything else, spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her sons: Dennis (Carol “Chris”) Perry, Kenneth (ElDora) Perry, Delwin (Kathie) Perry and Ace (Barbara) Perry; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In eternal life, Edith is reunited with her beloved husband Mel son Alan Perry, grandson Richard Perry, her parents Horace and Bertha, as well as her stepfather John Hogeland and her siblings: Lois McDonald, Russell Sisson, Marvin Sisson and Helen Burns.
Edith’s family would like to thank the amazing staff at Sunny Hill Care Center for their incredible love and care of their mother.
