Edna Daters, 92, of the Grandview Heights, died there Tuesday afternoon, March 23rd. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Henrys Catholic Church with Fr. Don Czapla officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Haverhill. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Edna and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born Edna Sassen on June 9th, 1917, at Haverhill, she was the daughter of Herman and Rose (Jansen) Sassen. She received her education at the St. Joseph Parochial School in Haverhill. On February 15th, 1938, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Elmer Daters. They farmed near Haverhill for many years. Mrs. Daters was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was faithful in her daily prayers and rosary. She enjoyed playing cards, the Chicago Cubs,and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Eileen (Roger) Moore of Altoona, formerly of Marshalltown, granddaughter Karen (Richard) Boriskey of Des Moines and their son Nick, grandson Tony (Michelle) Moore of Oak Park, IL and their children Tyler and Courtney, and several nieces and nephews. In death, Edna was rejoined with her husband Elmer, parents, siblings Ray Sassen, Rose Lang, Mildred Zimmerman, Irene Ridout and infant brothers Vincent and Elmer.
