Edna Joan Speas, 79 of Marshalltown and one of Elviss most faithful, dedicated fans was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown surrounded by her lovely family. Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Edna Joan Speas was born on January 25, 1938. Some of Joans favorite memories are all the good times that involved dancing, having the best of times with many of her dear friends. Joan was well known for dancing with the best of them, kickin up her 4 heels and clapping her hands in pure happiness. She loved to sing; her favorite was gospel songs and of course Elvis Presley, Charlie Pride, Johnny Cash and Chubby Checker The Twist. Joan spent a lot of Friday nights at the Marshalltown Speedway. She was so entertaining that the crowd got a kick out of watching Joan holler and cheer her big heart out! If you didnt know that was one of her daughters and a grandson out there racing, you would have figured it out. She will be deeply missed. Joan had so much enjoyment going to rodeos. She would always want a hot dog and a Coke, and then she would laugh so hard watching the rodeo clown. There are no words to describe how much she loved her grandchildren..She was crazy grandma. They will never forget such a remarkable lady that has left fun crazy memories for them to share. Elvis was very much a part of Joans life. She would actually get upset if you said anything bad about him. She couldnt get enough of all the Elvis impersonators that she has encountered in her excitement to live life and have fun while doing it. In 2013 she got to go to Memphis, Tennessee to Graceland. We thought that was when she went to heaven. Joan was a hard worker and a loving mom who did the best she could with her three children who love her more than shell ever know. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Teresa Speas (Brett), son Curt Speas, and daughter Jennifer Hulin (Craig) all of Marshalltown, Iowa. Her loving grandchildren: Racer Hulin (Kelli), Wheeler Hulin (Tasia) Ali Leavy, and her joy for her great grandchildren: Triscety, Kaisley and Whylee Hulin. We love and miss you mom and will never forget such a beautiful lady.
