Edward Gord 74, of Marshalltown passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012.A memorial /visitation will be held on Wednesday, 14, 2012 from 5: 00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone 641-844-1234.Edward Jennings Gord was born on July 4, 1937, he was the son of Jennings and Dollie (Loman) Gord, he was raised and educated in the Slater area graduating from SlaterHigh School with the class of 1955. Edward then served our Country Honorably in the United States Army from 1955to 1958 serving in Korea. After Edward was discharged from the Army he was united in marriage to Delores Stump, they lived in Des Moines for a short time where Edward was employed at the Firestone Plant, then moving to Council Bluffs working for the United States Postal Terminal. He then transferred to the United States Post office in Marshalltown as a mail carrier retiring after 35 years. He and Delores traveled for a few years and then settled down in Marshalltown. Edward enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.Edward is survived by his wife; Delores, his children; Mark (Arlene) Gord, Brian (Roxie) Gord and Robin (Clark) Zeisneiss, two granddaughters and six step-grandsons.Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Jennings and Dollie, a sister, a brother-in-law and one niece.
