Edward Lincoln Halbloom, 90, of Gilman passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center under the care of Hospice. Edward was born on February 14, 1923, to Adolph and Nettie (McKinney) Halbloom. He attended Laurel school and worked in agriculture his entire life. He will be remembered as a man of great integrity who always had a cheerful disposition and loved his family and friends. Left to cherish Edwards memory is his sister-in-law Merlene Halbloom, his nieces and nephews: Jacquelyn Halbloom (Scott Murphy) of LaPorte City, Marla Johnson of Marshalltown, Melinda Halbloom of Melbourne, Marc (Andrea) Halbloom of State Center, Richard (Phylis) Atwood and Steve Atwood of Newton. In death Edward rejoins his parents Adolph and Nettie, his siblings Edith Atwood, John Halbloom, and Milton Halbloom, his nephews Kenny and Victor Atwood, his niece Megan Oelmann, and his long-time companion Mary Lovig. Services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 10:00 AM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family.
