Edward G. Eddie McCoy, 81, of 519 North 3rd Street, Marshalltown, died Friday morning, September 28th, at his home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 1st, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Hannahs officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Eddie and his family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on December 31st, 1925, he was the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Simms) McCoy. He attended school in Conrad and later attended the Iowa School of the Blind in Des Moines. He was employed at the Mid-Iowa Workshops and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the Marshalltown Evening Lions Club, serving as the club chaplain for many years. Many will remember Eddie for his love of music- playing the saxophone, clarinet and singing, his family, the Chicago Cubs and baseball, playing at dances and his great sense of humor and positive attitude. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Isabelle Ralston of Grundy Center, six nieces and nephews: Marla Schipper and Carla Skramovsky both of Conrad, Sheri Weaver-Isvik of Garner, Iowa, Shelley Westerman of Grundy Center, Steve Ralston of Wichita, Kansas and Scott Ralston of Urbandale, 20 great-nieces and nephews and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews. In death he has rejoined his parents, sister Marjorie Mast-Bever, and three nephews, Gary, Larry and Ronnie Mast.
