Edward Toepfer, 75, of Marshalltown passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, Iowa, with his daughter by his side.A memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone 641-844-1234.Edward Weston Pulfrey was born on January 8, 1937 in Pearl City, Illinois. He was the son of Edward and Ruth (Leuzinger) Pulfrey. After his father passed away, his mother later married Albert Toepfer and Edward was adopted by Albert. Edward was educated in the area of his birth and served our country honorably in the United States Marines from 1954 to 1962. On April 16, 1966 Edward was united in marriage to Barbara Blair in Pearl City, Illinois, they later divorced. Edward worked as an Ironworker and was a member of the Local #111 in Rock Island, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing and hunting but in general, the outdoors.Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Ruth, his children: Bethany Downing of Chandler, Arizona, Christopher Albert (Stacy) Toepfer of Loves Park, Illinois and Joseph Earl (Tamela) Toepfer of Freeport, Illinois, grandchildren: Joshua, Blair, Alex, Devin, Tera, Eric, Katlyin and Jesse, siblings: Ron (Mary Jane) Toepfer of Scales Mound, Illinois, Wayne (Jeanne) Toepfer of Byron, Illinois and Allen (Diane) Toepfer, of Pensacola, Florida.Edward will rejoin in death, his father, a son, Eric Edward, a brother, Bob and a sister, Myrna.
