Edward J. White, 92, of Marshalltown, died early Friday morning, September 25th, at the MMSC. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 28th, at St. Marys Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Miller officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with flag presentation honors by the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a vigil service/ Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to St. Marys Church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on April 10th, 1917, in Marshalltown at St. Thomas Hospital, he was the son of Edward and Mary (McMahon) White. He graduated from St. Marys High School in 1934 and later attended the Marshalltown Junior College. Ed served our country honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. On May 13th, 1952, at St. Columbills Catholic Church in Churdan, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Mary Sally Fitzpatrick. They made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed at the United States Post Office until 1976 and then Ottilie Seeds and the Iowa Veterans Home until retiring in 1985. Mr. White was a faithful member of St. Marys Parish, the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) and served as past exalted ruler of the BPOE Elks Lodge. He is sadly missed by Mary Sally White- his wife of 57 years, children and grandchildren - Kathleen and Andrew Miller of Waseca, MN and Keith and Emily Miller of Fridley, MN, Reid Miller of St. Paul, MN and Paige Miller of Minneapolis; Kevin White of Des Moines; Patricia and Randy Fowler of Marshalltown and Katy and Trevor Harvey of St. Joseph, MO and Mary Fowler of Marshalltown; Sheila Fisher of Littleton, CO and Eric Fisher also of Littleton; Brian and Jill White of Overland Park, KS and Megan White and Alison White both of Overland Park; Michael and Jannie White of Chicago and Emily White, Gabrielle White and Liam White all of Chicago. In death he has rejoined his parents, sister Genevieve Wheater and a sister Josephine in infancy.
