Elaine Edler, 91, of Marshalltown, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Elaine will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will follow services at the St. Johns Cemetery in State Center. Visitation for Elaine will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed in her name to her family. Elaine was born January 8, 1921, in Ogden, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Amelia Riese Lindemann. Elaine received her education in the St. Johns Parochial School in State Center. On December 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to Carl Edler at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in State Center. They lived on their farm near State Center for fifteen years and later in 1961 moved to Marshalltown where Elaine was employed at Marshalltown Instruments for twenty-two years until her retirement in February of 1983.Elaine was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, The Redeemer LWML and the YMCA Hobby Craft Club. Elaine also baked for Farmers Market for sixteen years. She was well known for the homemade pies and rolls.Elaine is survived by her two daughters: Linda (James) Pepper of Marshalltown and Audrey (Michael) Streib of Overland Park, Kansas, one granddaughter Jamie Miller of Marshalltown, two grandsons: Christopher Streib and Steven Streib of Overland Park, Kansas, three great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Autumn and Sarah.Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl on January 12, 1981, and her sister Ruth Winter of Hubbard, Iowa.
