Elaine E. Robins

The angels are rejoicing today as they welcome Elaine E. Robins, 98, of Clemons, Iowa, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown.

Services for Elaine will take place on Saturday, June 22 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. She will be laid to rest at St. Johns Cemetery in State Center. Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation on Friday, June 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Elaine was born November 22, 1925 in State Center, Iowa to parents Carl and Ruby (Hilleman) Davis. Growing up on the farm, she learned from a young age about hard work and dedication, and those lessons stuck with her throughout her whole life. After graduating as Valedictorian from Colo High School, she put herself through nursing school in 1944, receiving top honors while also obtaining hands-on training through a student nurse work force. Elaine truly loved her job as a night shift nurse, working many years in OB at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital and later at State Center Manor until age 82.

Elaine’s passion for nursing was only surpassed by her love of the Lord. She was a devoted member of St. Johns Lutheran Church followed by Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. As a nursing student, she never forgot the words of a nine year old boy dying of diphtheria. He woke suddenly, said “Mother, the angels are coming,” laid his head back down and died. She believed by grace you are saved (Eph. 2:8) and loved Jesus with all her heart and soul. She was blessed to share that faith with her family even in her last moments, when they prayed together at her bedside.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Jeanette (David) Helland of St. Louis, MO, Jeanine Worl of Payson, AZ, Jeanelle Sidwell of Phoenix, AZ and Jeanice (Jeff) Arment of Marshalltown, IA; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, she is reunited with two of her children: Jeananne Wolfe and Bruce Robins, her granddaughter Kelly Sidwell, parents Carl and Ruby Davis, sister Myrna Bunn and brother Harold Davis.
