Elaine Hall was born February 19, 1939 in Centerville, Iowa. She was the middle of seven children born to Rex and Lola (Lewis) Hall. She spent her early years in Centerville before her family moved to Green Mountain when she was 10. She then finished her schooling at the Green Mountain School District and graduated with the class of 1956.

On July 3, 1959, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Turnbull. Bob and Elaine, they raised five children together, Holly, Leslie, Chelle, Robin and Sean along with owning and operating Van’s Café in Marshalltown. Elaine was committed to a life-long career in nursing where she worked as an RTT at the Iowa Veteran’s Home and retired in 1991.

In her free time, Elaine stayed active within the community, she was a member of the Lady of the Moose, various bowling leagues, and the Red Hat Ladies club. She loved to work on sewing, crocheting and other various arts and crafts projects. She was a life-long wrestling fan, (even if it was fake and all for show). She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to garden and grow yellow roses which were her favorite and had a passion for horses. Elaine had a special favorite near and dear to her and that was dancing. It didn’t matter what type of music it was but she was always the first onto the dance floor and the last one to leave. She would also be known to have to “show the men how to do things.” Even over all of her favorites her thing she cherished most in this world was her family, she loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Elaine is survived by her children, Holly (Mike) Westendorf, Leslie (Kenny) Williams, Chelle Brewer and Robin Turnbull-Garcia; her grandchildren, Matthew, Amber, Dusty (Kari) Heather, Drew (Anna), Alexandra (Collin), Shanna, Jade, Cruz (Katie), Julianna, Bella, Lexi, Ian (Maria) and Kirsten; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Sean Turbull; grandson, Jesse Snyder; great-grandson, Jesse Kincade-Snyder; parents, Rex and Lola Hall; and her siblings, Dean, Don, Marge, Dick, Flo and Gary.
