Elda Perry

Elda V Perry, 92, of Arkansas and formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 under Legacy Hospice in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Funeral services for Elda will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Elda Miller was born on November 6, 1929 in Marshalltown to Arthur F. and Minnie Armstrong Miller. She was united in marriage to Harold Perry on December 22, 1950 in Marshalltown. They made their home in Toledo and Marshalltown. Elda had worked at Lennox as a teletype operator in the late 1940’s. She was also a candy striper in high school and babysitter for several years as well as a homemaker. Elda enjoyed crocheting from the age of 4 years old. She also enjoyed collecting hummingbird knick knacks of all sorts, reading mysteries and was a whiz at word games and especially loved cryptoquip and crossword puzzles. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and always made sure that anyone that visited on Christmas had a present. Elda is survived by her children: Larry L. (Carol) Perry of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, David (Vicky Bray) Perry of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and Shari Schellar of Toledo, Iowa. Grandchildren: Andrew Perry, Daniel Perry, Shane Perry, Joseph Schellar, Erica Gese and step grandchild: Penney Carlson-Degand. Great grandchildren: Skylar, Dilan and Triston Perry; Ryan, Kayla and Aaron Perry; Olivia Gese and Danica Schellar. She is also survived by great-great grandchildren: Gabriel and Nirvana Boucher and her siblings: Charles Miller of Alamosa, Colorado and Delza Stanley of Marshalltown. Elda is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, Arthur and Minnie; infant son, Thomas John and siblings: Lloyd, Ruth, Harold, Clara, Opal and Mary.
