Elda Helene Sickman, 91, passed away on February 28, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Bethel Grove Cemetery near Liscomb. Visitation one-hour prior to the services. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Elda was born July 30, 1916 in Randolph, Nebraska, the youngest of three daughters of Emil Strom and Anne Marie (Sorenson) Strom. Elda was united in marriage to Wilbur Sickman on February 12, 1955. They made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa until his death in 1965. Elda remained in Marshalltown until she moved to Kansas City in 2001. She loved to cook, make cookies, walk, travel and read. Elda accepted the gospel of Jesus, as in the Bible, and it was the focus of her life. She will be missed by her family and friends. Besides her parents and her husband, Elda was preceded in death by her nephew, Donald Black. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Carolyn Sickman of Kansas City, Missouri; her granddaughter, Elana; her two sisters, Inez Black of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Marian Strom of Ellensburg, Washington; a nephew, Harry Black and his wife Carol of Anamosa, Iowa; a niece, Joy Vybiral and her husband Richard of Marshalltown, Iowa; as well as other family members.
