Elithe Ann Witte, 83, of State Center, passed away early on March 21, 2008, at the State Center Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Albion Cemetery. Ph 641-844-1234. Elithe was born on January 28, 1925 in Chalk Buttes, Montana, to Lee Robert and Clara Purdum. Elithe attended school in the Spokane, Washington area and worked in the shipyards as a welder on battleships during World War II. She met Harold Witte during this time, and they married on May 21, 1943, in Spokane. They raised three children: Norman, Marion, and Sheryl. The couple lived their married life in the Marshall County area. Elithe is survived by her sons: Norman Witte of Marshalltown, and Marion (Pat) Witte of Melbourne; her sisters, Peggy Anderson of Denver, CO, and Sally Keyohara of Moriarty, NM; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Elithe was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. Her husband died in 1980 and her daughter Sheryl died in 1992. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of the staff of State Center Nursing and Rehab Center and also to Iowa River Hospice.
