Elizabeth C. Chick, 90, of Marshalltown, formerly of Shenandoah, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center while in the care of Iowa River Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service. Burial will be on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, in Maryville, MO. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Elizabeth and her family. Ph 641-844-1234.Born on April 13, 1917, in Gilman City, MO, she was the daughter of Samuel W. Planck and Lura F. Wooderson. Elizabeth graduated from Bethany High School and later attended Northwest Missouri State University, graduating in 1938. Elizabeth married Jack Chick on August 13, 1939 in Bethany, MO. She taught 1st grade in Missouri Valley, Iowa and then at Shenandoah, Iowa. She moved to Marshalltown in March, 2007. Elizabeth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah and the PEO.She was an only child and was very proud of the fact that she had 24 descendents. Elizabeth enjoyed children, learning, reading, golfing, and playing the piano. She was very witty and loved being outdoors and traveling, especially to Colorado. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Anne Miller of Moberly, MO, and Barbara(Dick) McBride of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Lisa(Mark) Fuhrman of Moberly, MO, Cary(John) Hughes of Marshalltown, Becky(Greg) Choate of Cottage Grove, WI, Ryan (Lura) McBride of Cedar Rapids, and Jason(Jacqueline) McBride of Western Springs, IL, and her 9 great-grandsons and 10 great-granddaughters. In death, she has rejoined her husband, Jack, and her parents.
