Elizabeth Paxton, 101, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Paxton was born on November 10, 1912 in Rea, Missouri; she was the daughter of Grover and Marilla (Warner) Paxton. In 1915 her family moved to Nodaway and later to Savannah, Missouri. She received her education in that area. After high school she attended a Teachers College then taught school for several years while continuing her education in business courses. In 1943 she moved to Kansas City and worked in business offices until joining Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1945. She transferred to St Joseph 10 years prior to retiring in 1968. Following retirement, Elizabeth returned to the family home in Savannah and cared for her parents until their deaths. In September 1986 she moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where she had made her home. On March 1, 2005, she moved to Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center making her home there until her death. Elizabeth surrendered her life and heart to Jesus Christ in her late teens, making that the focus of her life until her death. In death Elizabeth rejoins her parents, sister, Alma, brothers, Fred and Lawrence and nephews Fredrick, Byron, Bob and Richard. Left to cherish her memory is her nephew, Gary Paxton of Legrand, niece, Patricia Estes of St Josephs, Missouri, her great-nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
