Elizabeth Betty Vajgrt, 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Bright Kavanagh House, in Des Moines, Iowa.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, with Father Jim Miller officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where her family will be present to greet friends. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed in Bettys name to her family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Betty and her family.Elizabeth Vajgrt was born on March 10, 1944, the daughter of Harry Wagner and Helen Switzer. Later in life, her mother married Frank Lang Sr., who became her father figure. She was raised in Marshalltown, graduating from St. Marys High School. Betty was united in marriage to LaVerne Vajgrt on May 16, 1965, at St. Marys Catholic Church. The couple lived in Marshalltown their entire married lives. Betty worked at Econo Foods for many years before retiring from Theisens. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Betty had a true passion for her family, decorating cakes, reading and socializing. Betty is survived by her two daughters: Dana (Chuck) Fenner and Lori (Rick) Espino; grandchildren: Austin and Antonio Espino; one sister, Doris; one brother, George (Patricia); as well as many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne; both parents; and three sisters.
