Elizabeth (Beth) Harrison
Beth Harrison, 93, passed away peacefully the morning of July 11 at Mill Pond Care Center, Ankeny, IA, due to natural causes. Prior to her time in Ankeny, Beth was a long-time resident of Marshalltown.
Beth was born in Vinton, Iowa, February 24, 1932, the daughter of James and Theodora Wilson. She attended school in Vinton and later attended the University of Northern Iowa studying music. An accomplished musician, she played flute, piano, organ, guitar, and banjo. She also sang alto.
She met Roger Harrison in high school. She was the homecoming queen, and Roger was captain of the football team. They were married in 1952 in Vinton, Iowa. After his return from military service, Beth and Roger lived in Iowa City, where she had a job as a telephone operator. Following Roger’s graduation from Law School they moved to Marshalltown, where she was a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker until her recent move to Ankeny. Beth was active in many organizations in Marshalltown and made many friends.
Beth was preceded in death by Roger in 2006, after 53 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons David (Peggy) and Tim (Nikki) of Ankeny, her daughter Pam (Dan) of Altoona and grandchildren Lindsay, Jamie, Chase, and Drew, and seven great grandchildren.

Beth’s funeral service has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2025, starting at 11:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Rev. Bryan Kunz will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on July 16th from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. also at the funeral home. Beth will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa at 2:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the family and the First Presbyterian Church.
