Born Elsie Diser on January 14, 1931, in Booneville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lafayette and Ethel (Alexander) Diser. She received her education in Madison County, Marshall County and graduated from the Clemons High School in 1948.
On August 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to Allen Davis at the Little Brown Church. The couple was blessed with three children and resided in State Center. She was employed at the State Center Manor for 10 years. Mr. Davis passed away in September of 1990, and Elsie moved to Marshalltown. She resided at the Grant Street Apartments until moving to Southridge Specialty Care in November of 2021.
Elsie enjoyed horseback riding, playing cards, taking care of children and lovingly accepting the role of “grandma” at Roger’s School for 10 years. She also enjoyed long car rides looking for wildlife, especially deer and more than anything, spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her three children: Kevin (Sue) Davis of LaPorte City, Ken (Sonja) Davis of Melbourne and Karen (Ray) Rockingham of Marshalltown; grandchildren- Sara (Kevin) Avis, Father Ralph Davis, Allen Davis, Molly (Alec) Hoffman, Mary Rentz, Tayren (Shalee) Rockingham, Alexander Rockingham, Nick Ruby, Brad Edwards and Rayshawn Rockingham; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Ruth Diser; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In death, Elsie rejoined her beloved Allen, her parents, two brothers: Dwaine and Elwaine and three sisters: Rosemarie Davis, Mary Wall and Carolyn Pitt.
