Elsie Holdgrafer, 91, of 917 South 12th Avenue, Marshalltown, died Tuesday evening, October 23rd, at the Grandview Heights Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Rev. Gail Thiessen of the Central Christian Church officiating. Immediately following will be a time of fellowship and refreshments by the Central Christian Church women. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Ph 641-844-1234. Born Elsie Louise Waddle on August 27th, 1916, at Prairie City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Nathan and Blanche Louise (Charls) Waddle. She graduated from the Prairie City High Schools Class of 1933 and later attended Drake University in Des Moines, receiving her teachers certificate. She taught in the elementary schools in Waterloo/Cedar Falls. On November 28th, 1956, she was united in marriage to Edward Holdgrafer at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. They made their home on South 12th Avenue all of their married lives. Mrs. Holdgrafer was employed at the Corner Tap and was a member of the Central Christian Church. She was a good neighbor who enjoyed baseball, football, and the Chicago Cubs. Surviving are her sister-in-law Alice Kasper of Iowa City, nieces and nephews including Dennis and David Holdgrafer and Barb Earles and her neighbor family, Jim and Elaine Fiscus and their children Jackie, Judy and Steve. In death she has rejoined her parents, her husband who died in 1975, her brothers Paul and George and niece Darlene.
