Elyse Janae Perry

Elyse Perry, age 31, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the afternoon of July 15, 2025 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Services for Elyse will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 beginning at 2:30 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Elyse’s name may be directed to her family for a later designation. Elyse Janae Hooper was born September 25, 1993 in Sandy, Utah. She was the daughter of Robert Hooper and Donna Birrell. At a young age, Elyse and her family moved to Rhodes, Iowa. She attended school within the West Marshall Community School District and later graduated from West Marshall High School in the Class of 2012. Elyse continued her education at Marshalltown Community College.

She worked as a Para Educator at Miller Middle School in Marshalltown. Her faith was extremely important to her and was an active member at New Life Church in Marshalltown. On April 17, 2021, she was united in marriage to Zachary Alan Perry in Rhodes, Iowa. From their union they raised five children together, Robert, Mia, Oaklee, Renelynn and Thomas. In her free time, she loved to spend time with her children, go swimming and fishing, and riding her horse. She was one who had a heart of gold and loved being able to help anybody that she was able to. She was willing to give someone the shirt off her back if that’s what it took to help them out in a time of need.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her husband, Zachary Perry; her children, Robert Hooper, Mia Perry, Oaklee Hooper, Renelynn Perry and Thomas Perry; her father, Robert (Darla) Hooper; grandparents, Diane Grafton and Gerda Phillips; supportive mother figures, Crystal Eshelman and Anke Phillips; her siblings, Stephanie (Greg) Meunier, Tina Hooper, Tom Hooper, Justin Hooper, Butch Hooper, Stephanie Krowpman, Chris (Kilei Gunderson) Sonderleiter, Tony (Shaleah) Montano, Christine Hooper Matt Hewitt, Breanna (Scotty) Kesl-Mills and Abigail Oswalt. Additionally, she is survived by her mother and father-in-law, Scott (Tammy) Perry and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Birrell; her sister, Amanda Hooper, her brother David King along with her paternal and maternal grandparents.
